Annotations
Overview
Annotations let you draw shapes and labels on images to mark regions of interest for analysis or documentation.
Drawing Annotations
- Select an Image Viewer panel containing a 2Dts or 2D signal.
- Click the pencil (Annotation Tools) icon in the toolbar at the bottom-right of the panel.
- Choose a tool from the menu:

| Text Label | Text label (a text entry dialog appears) |
| Arrow | Directional arrow indicator |
- Click and drag on the image to draw the shape.
- Hold Shift while dragging to constrain to a perfect square or circle.
- Release to finish.
Closing the tool menu
The menu behaves as a quick-action list - there is no close button. It disappears when you:
- click on the image to start drawing (the shape you draw is unaffected),
- click anywhere else outside the menu, or
- click the pencil icon again.
Choosing a tool leaves the menu open, so you can switch tools without reopening it. Press Esc to cancel the selected tool without drawing.
Each annotation is assigned a colour from the palette. Select an annotation to see resize handles for adjustment.
Annotations are purely visual overlays - the underlying image data is never modified.
Deleting Annotations
Select an annotation and press Delete or Backspace to remove it.
Copy and Paste
You can copy an annotation from one Image Viewer panel and paste it into another. Select the annotation, copy it, then click on the target Image Viewer panel and paste.
