Notes

Overview

Notes appear as markers on the timeline, allowing you to annotate important moments in your experiment. Nexus supports two types of notes:

  • Live Notes - Imported from your instrument alongside the data. These are read-only markers placed by the TEM software during acquisition.
  • App Notes - Created by you within Nexus. You can add, edit, and delete these at any time.

Viewing Notes

Open the Notes tab in the left sidebar to see all notes in a scrollable list. Each note shows:

  • The note text
  • The timestamp or timespan
  • The source (App note or the name of the imported dataset)

Click any note in the list to jump the timeline to that moment.

Notes also appear as vertical markers on the timeline bar. Hover over a marker to see a preview of the note text.

  2. Click the + button next to the green time cursor in the notes bar.

App notes are stored in the workspace and can be edited or deleted at any time. Live notes imported from instrument data are read-only.

Filtering Notes

Use the Filter dropdown to show or hide notes by source - for example, show only your App notes or only notes from a specific dataset. Select All and Deselect All buttons help manage filters quickly.
